The renewable sector of the energy industry is rapidly changing to adapt to new technologies and to overcome emerging challenges. In response, Group NIRE hosted the 2014 Energy Resource Management Consortium Conference in Lubbock, TX on October 27-28, 2014.

Guests were invited on a guided tour of Group NIRE’s field test site at the Reese Technology Center, as well as a tour of the Texas Tech University’s National Wind Institute’s lab located at the Reese Center. Mark Harral, CEO of Group NIRE, and M. Duane Nellis, President of Texas Tech University, later welcomed conference attendees at a reception and dinner at the Overton Hotel and Conference Center.

Throughout the conference, leading Texas Tech researchers presented the results of their cutting-edge research in the areas of energy storage, cyber security, synchrophasors, wake management strategies, weather forecasting and radars. Additionally, industry partners shared lessons learned in the fields of bio-mass, big data management and solar energy.

The 2014 Energy Resource Management Consortium Conference accelerated global knowledge, capital collaborations, and vital technologies through partnerships between energy industry and higher education. Group NIRE would like to thank all who presented and attended.
